I couldn’t control myself, screw the 36 Rolex, this TAG Heuer Carrera CV2113 is the true motoring watch.
My b-day present to myself.

Now that’s a great b-day present! You sure know how to treat yourself.
Happy birthday!

That's like what, 4 digits left of the decimal?

I really want a Tag Heuer but I could just buy a car for that kinda money:( Being young and poor sucks

Brilliant choice, and I agree, Rolex are tired looking.

$2.5k with discount, probably a lot cheaper in america.

I just discovered this brand called Lambretta , €295 is a bit more than I want to pay but if and when my current watch breaks I know what I’m replacing it with.

I really like Rolex, but this Carrera was cheaper and a lot more appealing to me.

There are some cool Tags for cheap if you shop around, especially the early 2000's.

Nice! I think my Tudor Heritage chrono is pretty motorsport-esque too.

Damn you, I love the Heritage Chrono, especially in black like yours. Finding one proved to be damn near impossible here!

Seems a bit big for my taste, at that price point there are some really nice Seikos if I’m not mistaken.

Not really. Still about $3k Murica! Bucks

that's a pretty watch, congrats! I've always maintained that my next watch will be a Carrera but I'm still waiting to acquire the funds.

Fucking gorgeous. I’m plaining on picking up a tag or something of the like as a grad gift. Love TAG’S

That’s a nice looking watch. Do you insure that under a special policy, or do you gamble and hope it always stays safe? I’m not the type of guy to wear anything that expensive, but it seems really nice.

No insurance really, I’ve never had a watch stolen on the street and I living in an apartment means the security team is pretty great.

Your battery will run out, my watch will live under it’s own power FOREVER MUAHAHAHA.

Thanks, pre-owned ones are getting cheaper now and will appreciate a lot in the future I hope.

Be sure to pick something you see yourself wearing in 60 years, watches make great mementos because they last long and maintain their usefulness.

Was at Kay jewelers 3 weeks ago and got an estimate for repair of my Heuer 844 Monnin. I’ve had it since 1979. Last time it was serviced was 15 yrs ago and the authorized repair place did a crap job. It quit a year later. They are saying $200 to $500 for repair. This is the same model but I didn’t have a picture of mine which is the earlier French made 1st gen . The crystal is new on mine but the bezel ring is just slightly worse than this one. Its considered the Holy Grail of Heuer watches.
This one on ebay is much more beat up than mine and going for big money.

I’ve seen non-working ones sell for $1200. One built from extra parts from varied models sold for close to $1k about a month ago.

So, full disclosure. I work for an insurance company, albeit one in the US and I assume you’re not in the IS, but there is insurance to protect not just from theft but also damage in the course of regular use. I was just wondering if it was something people considered. Like I said before, I don’t wear anything that nice, but I wouldn’t have known about a policy on something like that before I started working where I do.
It is a beautiful watch. Great birthday present for yourself.

Though more widely known for the space program, the Omega Speedmaster was intended for sports/racing when it was introduced in 1957
I’ve had mine for 8 years after getting it as a Father’s Day/birthday present, I mainly wear it on the vintage 1171 bracelet
But I also have the perforated racing strap as well
The only other racing watch I would like to have is a Porsche Design PVD chronograph, most of the ones that come up for sale are pretty beat up

That is sex in a time piece.

Nice, I daily a Mk 4.5 Speedy myself!
If the PVD is hard to find you could always go with a modern Lemania 5100 based Tutima or Sinn

Curse, look what you made me do. Now incoming:
Little did I know that the original Bell & Ross watches were just rebadged Sinn models only sold outside of Germany. Sinn and several other manufacturers continued producing the same military type chronograph with near identical cases and designs. I found this one in near mint condition, unlike the Porsche Design models it has all chrono hands in red which I like better.
